Glossary of Terms

	Dolby Digital 5.1, or also known as AC-3, is the Number 1 format for DVD audio playback. Replacing 4-speaker Dolby Pro Logic, Dolby Digital 5.1 outputs sound in 5 seperate channels from your DVD player with optional facility for sub-woofer. To take advantage of Dolby Digital 5.1 sound you will need : Dolby Digital 5.1 / AC-3 decoder capable amplifier or amplifier with 6 channel input (DVD player must have AC-3 decoder in this instance, see all DVD players with built in AC-3 decoder here. 	DTS is THE best sound format available. Although there are few DTS movie discs available, Home-Cinema enthusiasts are familiar with the mind blowing sound of DTS on Laserdisc. 	96Khz Audio is the latest sound format for DVD Audio playback. Typically, normal CD has a 48Khz sampling rate, 96Khz means twice the information and twice the clarity. DVD discs such as DVD Spectacular use this latest Audio format for the most amazing dynamic sound available. All our DVD players support the new 96Khz format.
	THX is was established to certify electronic and speaker equipment to the standards required for perfect cinema re-production in your own home. 	Macrovision is in-built copy protection which prevents domestic copying of DVD onto video-tape.
